Biography

Alexander W. Crispo is an associate professor in the School of Technology, Purdue University. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in organizational change, and change leadership.

Before coming to Purdue Al was employed with the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA Inc) in Lafayette IN. During a 28-year career with ALCOA, he was responsible for operations of one of the world's largest hard alloy extrusion plants. As manager his responsibilities involved all aspects of manufacturing, maintenance, production control, technical sales, and customer service. During his career Al worked in other areas of the organization including quality, packaging, transportation, industrial engineering and human resource management. He had the honor of winning the prestigious Arthur Vining Davis Award for technical excellence, and the Alcoa Research Award for collaboration and team development.

Professor Crispo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management, from Clarkson University. He is president of the International Society for the Exploration of Teaching and Learning and a member of the Midwest Academy of Management, the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society, the Futurist Society, and the American Society for Training and Development. He has presented papers and educational workshops at all the above conferences. In addition his students and colleagues have recognized him with numerous teaching awards and commendations. The faculty of the School of Technology also awarded Professor Crispo the SOT Tenured Faculty Teaching Award.

Crispo advised the student run Organizational Leadership Association and Leadershape. He also served as a Faculty Fellow and Horizon mentor. He is active in service learning and enjoys working with and mentoring students.

In the community he was active as Vice President of the Greater Lafayette Volunteer Bureau, and was instrumental in organizing the first Lafayette Jazz and Blues festival. As a member of the Linear Parks Taskforce, he also helped promote the first leg of a Lafayette walking and bicycling, trail which will eventually circle the city. Professor Crispo has also been involved with training and development at several major corporations around the state of Indiana.

Al's hobbies include wood working, model railroading, boating, and hiking in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State.
