Major Teaching and Scholarly Interests
Professor Corum studied in the quality and metallurgy areas for her
graduate and undergraduate programs. Her teaching interests include
manufacturing quality control, materials and manufacturing processes.
Professor Corum is also involved in applied research of surface
enhancement through shot peening. Shot peening is frequently used in
automotive and aerospace industries, among others, to improve fatigue life
of critical components. The Surface Enhancement Center located in
the MET Manufacturing Laboratory houses an operational shot peening
cabinet (air blast) as well as media analysis equipment. Current
undergraduate projects include media size and shape analysis and
establishing a peening process for fatigue specimens for an MET
undergraduate course.
