P.A.I.D. Mission Statement
The Professional Association for Industrial Distribution (PAID) provides a forum for
the association of students, faculty, former students, and people involved in the practice
of Industrial Distribution. PAID was first organized at Purdue University in 1995 as a way
for students to get involved with the faculty and industry personnel. Each year, it
organizes banquets, social events, field trips, and barbecues to provide an environment
outside of the classroom to meet your professors, fellow students and industry
representatives. Under its constitution, PAID has four main goals:
- To develop the character of students pursuing a career in the practice of Industrial
Distribution.
- To develop and refine the skills necessary for a career in Industrial Distribution.
- To coordinate services and activities for the students in the Industrial Distribution
Program
- To act as a liaison between the students, faculty, and people involved in the practice
of Industrial Distribution
Membership is highly encouraged and open to all ID and ID related majors. A full
membership in PAID provides the following privileges: voting, holding office, representing
the society, attending all general association functions, and the opportunity to attend
business conferences in various parts of the country.
General meetings are held monthly and officer meetings are held bi-monthly. The general
meetings cover a wide spectrum of topics that are beneficial to students. General meetings
will also facilitate the opportunity for students to meet with representatives from different
areas within distribution. These representatives will typically give a lecture about their
experiences and answer questions by the attending students. Fliers will be posted around
Knoy Hall, strategic positions around campus, transparencies placed in instructors mailboxes,
and email messages will be sent out to all current P.A.I.D. members and students of the IT
department. Announcements may also be made in the various distribution classes.
