Service Courses

Most students at Purdue need some degree of personal computing and/or programming literacy. The Department of Computer Technology offers the following literacy courses. Some courses use specific technology or languages. These technologies and languages are clearly published each semester in the University's Schedule of Classes.

Personal Computer Literacy

(2) CPT 135 (Personal Computing Technology and Applications) - using Microsoft Office
(3) CPT 136 (Personal Computing Technology and Applications) - using Microsoft Office
(3) CPT 172 (Database Application Development) - using Microsoft Access
(3) CPT 235 (Work Group and Network Computing and Applications) - using Microsoft Office Professional

Computer Programming Literacy Courses

(3) CPT 141 Internet Foundations, Technologies and Development
(3) CPT 175 (Visual Programming) - using Microsoft Visual Basic
(3) CPT 267 (Introduction to C++ Language Programming)

NOTE: Credit may be established in only one of CPT 167 (no longer offered) and CPT 267.
