The Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technology program
and the College of Technology Manufacturing Center is pleased to once again
offer the student workshop related to automation and computer control at no
charge.
This Next Spring Workshop will be held on Saturday,
April 8, 2006.
Applications must be received by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

The Discovering Automation Workshop is held at least
once every Fall and Spring by the Purdue University School of
Technology Manufacturing Center. Lab sessions are conducted in state-of-the-practice
facilities in Knoy Hall on the Purdue West Lafayette campus.
The workshop is designed to expose high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to the
fun, exciting, and challenging field of Computer Integrated Manufacturing.
Workshop Format
The workshop is held on a Saturday. The main portion of the workshop
consists of four Hands-On
Laboratory sessions held in parallel. Attendees are divided into four groups and
rotated through each of the 50 minute lab sessions.
The Laboratory sessions include:
- Creating a Solid model of a product using Computer-Aided Design
- Manufacturing the designed part using Computer-Aided Manufacturing
- Manipulation of several devices using Programmable Logic Controllers
- Programming an industrial robot to do several tasks
Cost
The workshop is provided free to all attendees by the
program sponsors. The DACC Workshop is sponsored by the Purdue University College of
Technology Mechanical Engineering Technology Department and the College of Technology's Computer Integrated
Manufacturing Technology program.
