CIMT 480

Project Planning for Integration

Class 2, lab 2, cr.3. Prerequisite: CIMT 374.

 

Catalog Description: This is the first of two courses that complete the capstone requirement.  The course focus is on the project planning, system design and management activities necessary for the implementation of a successful manufacturing integration project.   

 

Course Objectives: Following completion of this course the student should be able to:  

 

1.      Understand the benefits to following the work philosophies set forth in the book entitled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by William Covey.

2.      Demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts of team dynamics and conflict resolution. [P07-5]

3.      Make a presentation on a technical topic to the class.  [P06-4]

4.      Prepare project specifications and the outline the components of a project proposal.

5.      Write a project proposal.

6.      Work appropriately and professionally within a team and with other teams of professionals to plan and organize a project. [P01-8, P06-4]

7.      Manage a project to a successful completion demonstrating an understanding of the importance of project planning and project management.

 

Note:  The course activities of CIMT 480/481 also allow a team of students to plan and complete an industry based integration project in place of the typical Manufacturing Center based project with permission of the CIMT Curriculum Sub-Committee.
