General Information:

The Department of Computer Graphics Technology offers one of the best applied computer graphics programs of any university in the United States. The department's mission is to provide the most current instruction to its students' ensuring that each graduate is prepared to be a leader in the graphics industry.

Each student attending the Computer Graphics Camp will receive personal attention and assistance in learning the strategies and techniques that will enhance her/his computer graphics skill and literacy. Each activity at the camp is designed to instruct and entertain.

For the first time in it's ten-year run, the program will be offering both Beginning and Advanced Camps to accomodate students with varying degrees of skills and experience.

Important Dates, Times, and Locations:

Note: At the time of this writing, specific dates and locations for 2008 camp events are still being finalized. Check back with this site towards the end of March for updated schedules.

Advanced Camp Check-In: (Sun., June 15th, 2008)

  • Check-In: 3-5 pm (location to be announced)
  • Orientation Dinner: 5 pm
  • Orientation: 6 pm
  • Parents leave: ~7 PM

Advanced Camp Check-Out: (Fri., June 20th, 2008)

  • Luncheon: 12 pm (location to be announced)
  • Awards Ceremony: 1-3 pm
  • Check-Out: 3-5 pm

Beginners Camp Check-In: (Sun., June 22nd, 2008)

  • Check-In: 3-5 pm (location to be announced)
  • Orientation Dinner: 5 pm
  • Orientation: 6 pm
  • Parents leave: ~7 PM

Beginners Camp Check-Out: (Fri., June 27th, 2008)

  • Luncheon: 12 pm (location to be announced)
  • Awards Ceremony: 1-3 pm
  • Check-Out: 3-5 pm

Meals:

Meals for campers begin on the evening of check-in with the Orientation Dinner, and conclude with the Awards Luncheon. Parents may purchase tickets for both of these meals at the time of check-in.

Tickets to the Awards Luncheon run at $15 per individual. Campers themselves do not need to purchase tickets, as their fee is covered in the cost of the camp.

Campers will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner each full day of the camp.

Registration and Costs:

1. Students wishing to attend Camp should fill in an application form and return it to the address at the bottom of this page or apply online here before May 31, 2008.

2. The total cost of attending the camp is $850, which covers registration, housing, meals, computer sessions, tours, and entertainment.

3. Each application should include a $200 deposit in the form of a check or money order. Please make checks and money orders payable to Purdue University. Your deposit will ensure a reserved spot at the camp.

4. Final payment of the remaing $650 is due before May 31st, 2008 or at the camp check-in.

Housing Information:

Camp members will be housed in one of the Purdue University Residence Halls. As the date of the camp approaches and camp details are finalized, the specific hall will be selected.

Housing includes rooms (based on double occupancy), linen, bathing facilities, and towels (replaced daily. Students are required to supply their own toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc...)

Instructional Sessions:

All campers will participate in instructional sessions each morning and afternoon during the camp. Sessions will be offered on a rotating basis in order to allow each student to attend all sessions.

During sessions, students will produce computer images and be instructed in strategies for solving graphics problems.

Sessions include: Web site development, 3D animation and solid modeling, video editing, interactive media, and multi-media programming, and a variety of other topics.

All students will be provided with all computer materials and supplies - i.e., binders, computer disks, handouts, hard copies, and miscellaneous items associated with the computer sessions and related camp experiences.

Tours and Entertainment:

During the camp, students will enjoy various forms of entertainment including the Animation Film Festival, tours to industrial and business sites specializing in computer graphics, a gaming tournament, visits to Purdue various Purdue facilities, and a graphics show of students' projects at the Awards Luncheon.
