Description: This course covers basic concepts in virtual reality (VR) and virtual environments (VEs). Students learn the basics of creating and using virtual environments and develop content and applications for Purdue’s FLEX, located in the Envision Center, and other types of displays.  The course is taught in collaboration with Indiana University and Iowa State University with most sessions taking place via the Access Grid.

Meeting time and location: Tuesday and Thursday 1:30-3:30 (includes both lecture and lab time), Access Grid room of the Envision Center (Stew B001, formerly the billiards room)

Prerequisites: Solid understanding of computer graphics. Although not required, 3D modeling experience, programming experience in a language such as C/C++, and/or development experience with graphics tools such as OpenGL, Inventor, or VRML would be helpful. Students without this experience should meet with the local instructor prior to enrolling. Class is open to undergraduates on a case-by-case basis; please contact the instructor for more information.
