ACM Siggraph at Purdue is making big changes this year and extending it's membership to the entire Purdue campus. In the past membership was limited to only the CGT department but this year the group is collaborating with the larger ACM parent organization at Purdue University in order to attract a broader range of members from all different backgrounds and majors.

As of this writing this initiative has been a success as the group held one of the largest callouts in recent years. The group is also undergoing a massive restructuring of the organization, including a rewrite of their constitution.

Various new committees have been formed, including a Marketing Committee (to design posters and advertise events), Events Committee (to bring in speakers, hold software tutorials, and run the Spring Show and Banquet), Fundraising Committee, and an Art Contest Committee (to hold regular digital art contests throughout the year).

This year's annual Spring Show and Banquet is scheduled for April 19th, so save the date! All are welcome, with more details on purchasing tickets, presentations schedules, and awards cermonies coming soon.

Expect a great year with Siggraph at Purdue! Go Boilers!!!!!

Swish Student Project: Stuttering for Kids by Kids

Stuttering for Kids by Kids is a video project created by CGT students aimed at stuttering kids. This video, created for the Stuttering Foundation of America (SFA), has been seen by thousands of children around the world to help them understand and cope with their stuttering. Swish, an animated basketball with engaging, human-like features, is one of the stars.

Swish is the creation of Michelle Jackson, Helen Kang, Ali Modara, and Rich Sun. Since his debut in the Spring of 2004, Swish has been a huge hit. The DVD can be found in every public library in the U.S. Articles have appeared on the pages of Woman’s Day, Virginia Journal of Education, and Queens Family to name a few. The video was also awarded the Adding Wisdom Award by Parent to Parent, a guide for parents in choosing products for their children that not only entertain, but also add wisdom.
