Siggraph 06 Booth

SIGGRAPH, 2006

Once again, Purdue had a strong showing at the annual ACM SIGGRAPH conference, which was held in Boston in it's 33rd year. The world's largest conference for computer graphics, the event was highlighted by nearly 20,000 attendees, representatives from 80 countries, and 230 companies and industry partners.

As in previous years there was a strong showing by Purdue faculty and students. John Finnegan served as this years conference chair, having assumed the position from Jamie Mohler, chair of the 2005 conference. Other contributor's to this years conference included Nicoletta Adamo-Villani (presenter), Laura Arns (presenter/ organizer), Carley Augustine (presenter), Gary Bertoline (presenter), David Ebert (presenter), Ron Glotzbach (presenter/ organizer), Nathan Hartman (presenter/ organizer), Lisa Kilmer (presenter), Kellen Maicher (presenter/ organizer), Jamie Radwan (Student Volunteer Chair), Jim Sprinkles (organizer) , Bedrich Benes (attendee), Steve Dunlop (organizer), Chris Rahaim (attendee) , Marvin Sarapin (attendee), and over 20 graduate students and student volunteers.
The Purdue booth was a big success as the Department of Computer Graphics Technology teamed up with the Envision Center for Data Perceptualization to create un unprecedented showcase at this years conference. The Purdue booth showcased the graphics-related research and education taking place at Purdue, and included:
  • CGT and Envision Center project posters
  • interactive virtual-reality demonstrations
  • interactive desktop demonstrations
  • animations and movies to play on LCD panels
  • handouts on various computer graphics-related programs at Purdue
  • graduate students from various related disciplines working in the booth
  • promotion of all the papers and presentations entered by Purdue departments
  • recruiting of graduate students
  • promoting Purdue as championing an emerging professional discipline
  • contact with Purdue alumni and potential corporate partners
  • promotion of all the Purdue-related papers and presentations
