The Department of Computer Graphics Technology faculty, staff, Industrial Advisory Board Members, students, and alumni have expended considerable effort preparing for program accreditation. A comprehensive self-study was completed during the spring and fall 2005 semesters. This self-study addressed how the BS degree in Computer Graphics Technology at West Lafayette, meets the standards for accreditation of Baccalaureate level programs by the Board of Accreditation of the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT). |
| A visiting team made up of professors from three other university programs conducted a three-day on-campus visitation that started on March 29, 2006. The visiting team examined department documentation and interviewed a wide range of administrators, faculty, staff and students including attending the CGT Industrial Advisory Board meeting on March 31. The visiting team chair gave a very positive exit report in a meeting in the Dean’s office attended by members of the College of Technology administration, the CGT faculty, and the CGT IAB. The team expressed their appreciation for the quality and comprehensive nature of the self-study report and hospitality they received during the visit.
In the visiting team’s draft report recently received, the BS degree in Computer Graphics Technology was found to be in full compliance of 90 percent and partial compliance of 10 percent of the accreditation standards. The program had no items of non-compliance according to the visiting team’s report. The team is recommending to the Board of Accreditation to grant initial accreditation of the CGT program for the initial accreditation period of 4 years. This recommendation will be review by the NAIT Board of Accreditation at its next meeting in November 2006. Official accreditation of the program will begin after the November board meeting.
This process has confirms the quality of the BS degree in Computer Graphics Technology at West Lafayette and adds value to the education students receive. A hearty thank you and congratulations goes out to all those who work hard to make it happen here. Go Boilers!
