About the SLC student chapter at Purdue University:

• To render service to the major field of study. This is accomplished by active student participation in tasks and events that affect the construction program. For example, our chapter sells most of the textbooks and supplies needed for construction classes.

• The second objective is to develop good relations among campus, industry, and the public. We try to undertake one major community service project a semester, so all members can get involved. We also do most of the student preparation for employment roundtables.

• The third objective is to recognize outstanding students and professional individuals in construction. Students who meet the high academic and extracurricular standards are offered to pledge. SLC also has honorary membership classifications that can be bestowed upon individuals who deserve special recognition because of their contribution to construction education or some facet of the construction industry.

SLC Requirements for Membership:

• Have completed two (2) years of academic study as a BCM student.
• Have an overall cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0.
• Have studied at Purdue for at least six (6) months.
• Participated in one or more extracurricular activities.
• Merit is demonstrated through leadership, character, and personality traits that give promise of reflecting credit upon Sigma Lambda Chi.
• Worked in some phase of construction or its allied fields.
