Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Aviation Technology
Department is to provide educational opportunities for students
whose career interests and aptitudes lie within one of the
diverse facets of the aerospace industry. Ancillary
functions of the department include the offering of aviation
service courses, the promotion and encouragement of aviation
safety, the conduct of pure and applied research and research
support, and service to the University, and the aviation
community of the State of Indiana. As a result of
these educational and service activities, the department
prepares qualified graduates for employment in aviation
and related industries. In pursuit of these objectives,
the efforts of the faculty and staff are directed toward
the following educational processes.
- Development of graduates who are both technically oriented
and prepared to enter society as responsible citizens.
- Monitoring the changing needs of the aviation industry
and adopting our curricula to meet those needs.
- Designing, acquiring, and maintaining effective instructional
facilities and equipment.
- Attracting and retaining superior faculty and thereby
providing quality instruction in the aviation field.
- Development and execution of research programs which
contribute to more efficient and safe operation of aircraft.
- Coordination and sponsorship of statewide aviation
education.
- Creation and conduct of continuing education opportunities
for persons in need of such training, either for current
or alternative career paths.

the Aviation Technology Department are offered in the following
