The master's degree program offered by the School of Technology is a School-wide degree, requiring only three core courses (TECH 507, TECH 508, and TECH 646) plus a thesis or directed project. The remainder of each student's plan of study is tailored to his/her professional goals by the selection of courses for the plan, which is built around a "Technology primary area" and one or more "related areas." The primary area requires a minimum of 15 semester hours of TECH-prefix credit; otherwise, the distribution of credit hours is left to the discretion of the student and his/her advisory committee. The School also offers six Areas of Specialization that provide specific emphasis building routes through the master’s degree.

Applications should be filed electronically via the link below. The $55.00 processing fee can be mailed to Graduate School Admissions, Purdue University, 170 Young Graduate House, West Lafayette, IN 47906-6208 USA, or can be paid by credit card when completing your application.

The following items must be on file in our office in order for your application to be considered complete and ready for review for consideration:

  1. Statement of Purpose - Should be 300-500 words; any statement of purpose which exceeds the 500-word limit will be returned for revision. The statement should describe your purpose for undertaking or continuing graduate study, your reasons for wanting to study at Purdue, and your professional plans, career goals, and research interests. You may also explain any irregularities or special circumstances applicable to your background and elaborate on your special abilities, awards, achievements, scholarly publications, and/or professional history.

  2. Letters of Recommendation - Recommendations must come from three persons who can attest to your academic ability and scholarly potential - this does not include employers, family friends, ministers, etc. If the admissions committee determines that any of the three recommendations received are unacceptable, additional recommendations may be requested, thus creating a delay in the processing of your application. Some departments may consider GMAT scores if the applicant requests.
