Unconditional admission
Applicants who meet the following requirements
may be granted unconditional admission to the graduate program in
Industrial Technology.

Undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or above
-
GRE combined score (Verbal and Quantitative) of at least 1000
-
Undergraduate degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Distribution,
Technology Education, or a similar technology related field*
Conditional admission
Applicants who do not meet the requirements for
unconditional admission to the graduate program in Industrial Technology
may be granted conditional admission if they meet the following
criteria.

The sum of the GRE combined score (Verbal and Quantitative)
and 200 times the undergraduate GPA equals at least 1500.

Undergraduate degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Distribution,
Technology Education, or a similar technology related field*
The condition of admission is normally that the
applicant must complete 9 credit hours of graduate-level course
work as recommended by the graduate committee and achieve at least
a 3.00 GPA for those courses, without receiving a –C” grade in any
of those courses.
Students who are admitted conditionally will not
be permitted to register for further course work until grades are
received indicating that they have met, or have failed to meet,
the condition of admission.
Admission of applicants with an undergraduate
major other than Industrial Technology, Industrial Distribution,
Technology Education, or a similar technology related field*
Applicants with an undergraduate degree in an
area other than Industrial Technology, Industrial Distribution,
Technology Education, or a similar technology related field* may
be granted conditional admission if they meet the following criteria.

Undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or above

GRE combined score (Verbal and Quantitative) of at least 1000
The condition of admission is normally that the
applicant must complete 9-12 credit hours of undergraduate courses
in related technical areas as recommended by the graduate committee
and achieve at least a 3.00 GPA for those courses. The courses
will not be available for use on the masteręs degree plan of study.

Transfer credit
Applicants meeting the requirements for unconditional
admission may be permitted to transfer a maximum of 6 semester hours
of graduate-level credit completed at another institution upon petition
to the graduate committee if the following criteria are met.

Courses used to satisfy the requirements for a degree at another
institution may not be used on the plan of study for a masteręs
degree at Purdue University.

Only credit hours associated with graduate courses for which
a grade of –B” or better were obtained may be eligible for transfer.

A copy of the catalog description of the course and an official
transcript showing completion of the course(s) and the grade
received in the course(s) must be submitted with the plan of
study.
Admission Recommendation Process
- When the application file is complete, the Office of Graduate
Studies for the School of Technology forwards the application
to the chairperson of the IT graduate education committee.
- The committee chairperson screens the application to
determine if the admission criteria for either unconditional or
conditional admission have
been met.
- If the admission criteria for neither unconditional or
conditional admission have been met, the application will
be returned to the SoT Office of Graduate Studies without
further review and with the recommendation that admission
be denied.
- If the admission criteria for either unconditional or conditional
admission have been met, the application will be routed to
the members of the IT graduate education
committee for review.
- Graduate education committee members review the application;
recommend unconditional admission, conditional admission, or denial
of admission; and indicate if they would be willing to serve as
the applicantęs major professor.
NOTE: If no IT graduate education committee member indicates
willingness to serve as the applicantęs major professor, the application
will be returned to the SoT Office of Graduate Studies with the
recommendation that admission be denied.
- The committee chairperson prepares a memo to the Office of
Graduate Studies to accompany the application, stating the recommendation
for admission or denial, any condition(s) of admission, and listing
the name of the major professor.
- The memo and application are returned to the Office of Graduate
Studies for processing.
