Professional Champion Paper

Assignment #2

In the context of your proposed professional life-cycle: Who would you most like to emulate in your professional career? What individual has had a profound impact on your professional goals? In short, who is your professional champion?

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to provide the opportunity for students to investigate and select a professional role model.  The role model (champion) is someone who most closely displays attributes and abilities that students would like to emulate in their professional career. 

Required: A formal paper of not more than two (2) typed pages with a third page for references. Your 2 page paper must be in two column format and include topical areas of a title, abstract, introduction, discussion and summary along with a third page for your reference citations according to APA standards. Your paper must have a cover page that includes the project title, your name, "In partial fulfillment of the requirements for CGT 411 (new line) Spring 2003", and due date (all center justified on the page).

Page Layout

  A page layout which is uniform from article to article provides a consistent style.  The guidelines below should be used for formatting your paper.

Style Manuals

There are several professional reference style guides which researchers use to guide the writing of their papers. The APA style manual is to be used.

Margins

  All pages should have 1.5 inch left margins, 1 inch right margins, 1 inch bottom margins (without page numbers)

Spacing

 Please single space the text and double space between major paragraph groups.

Indenting

  Indent paragraphs 1/8”.

Page Numbers

  Do not number the pages.

Columns

The space between columns (the gutter) should be .35 inch. On the last page of your paper be sure to use even (newspaper) column endings rather than only fill one column.

The paper is to be printed and placed in a black Dura-clip binder with a clear front cover (no substitutions).  Include an electronic copy of your paper for inclusion on a class produced CD. In other words, the class will produce a single CD that includes all of the assignment #2 papers in MS Word .doc & pdf file format.
